Karen Logan is a visual artist who studied textiles at Goldsmiths College. Using familiar materials such as cloth, textile, wallpaper and apples she explores various concerns, especially temporality, transience, shifting meanings and the possibility of erasure. Appropriately for an artist interested in time and memory, she learnt many of the techniques she still uses from her female relatives and practiced them at home during her childhood.
Logan’s research draws on diverse sources, from historical and contemporary textile practice, visual art and photography, notions of gendered space, a cultural history of walking and landscape, and ideas of collective and personal histories.

These pupils were inspired to write a poem after one of Karen’s projects, it always makes her smile!
“You have been so cool
Teaching us art at school
We will miss you lots and lots
This creative time will never be forgot
You made this term so fun
Most of the things we have never done
You are as bright as the sun
You are as sweet as a chocolate bun”
Tia and Ilksen, Y4, Edmonton
